Hsinchu County Baoshan Junior High School｜Stress-Relief Music & Reading Hub

Compared with students in many other schools, those at Baoshan Junior High have more time and opportunities to engage in club activities. Whether it is the energetic rhythms of a rock band or the quiet atmosphere of music practice and reading, these contrasting yet equally meaningful activities form an important part of campus life. However, the original spaces—cluttered, enclosed by metal grilles, equipped with outdated facilities, and overwhelmed by their multipurpose use—gradually caused students to lose their sense of imagination toward campus living.

Through redefining functional needs, clarifying spatial scenarios, and establishing a cohesive color and atmosphere strategy, the design team transformed the two rooms into the “Music Room” and the “Reading Room.” The Music Room, intended for student clubs and after-school use, adopts a yellow color scheme, using neon tubes and a coordinated signage system to generate a lively and dynamic atmosphere. The Reading Room is grounded in a calm and soothing blue palette, shaping an environment that supports relaxation and emotional release. Together, these redesigned spaces create a natural and comfortable setting where students can express themselves, relieve stress, and enjoy diverse learning experiences.
