Taoyuan Municipal Pingzhen Preschool|The hakka kindergarten in hills
“Hills” hold symbolic significance in Hakka living culture, and this became the conceptual foundation for the redesign—transforming standard prefabricated playground equipment into a space that reflects a renewed Hakka aesthetic. The goal is to create an environment where children can build joyful memories at Pingzhen Kindergarten.
The first step of the renovation was to reorganize the entrance circulation—separating pedestrian and vehicular routes to expand the children’s outdoor activity area. By integrating hillside-like landscape forms and natural materials, the outdoor space was reshaped into an environment that accommodates both active and quiet play. This design encourages young children to move alongside natural plantings, experiencing sunlight, happiness, vitality, and a sense of beauty in their new outdoor world.
