New Taipei Municipal Shenkeng Junior High School|Transformative Space Lab
Using adaptable steel partitions, the design team created a space capable of accommodating a wide range of activities, addressing the school’s challenge of needing a multifunctional venue despite limited available space. Guided by the “one venue, three scenes” design concept, the project introduces highly transformative spatial configurations that allow students to experience shifts in atmosphere and setting through movement and interaction. Within these reimagined scenarios, assemblies, social engagement, and after-school programs naturally unfold, enabling a previously utilitarian and undefined area to reveal new layers of spatial flexibility and aesthetic value.
Alongside the physical transformation, the design team also assisted the school in organizing visual communications and exposed piping, proposing a unified management system to ensure long-term order and clarity. The project further incorporated design workshops that invited teachers and students to participate in the process, fostering awareness of environmental aesthetics and sparking creativity in their everyday experience of the campus.
