National Keelung Girls' Senior High School|No More Getting Lost on the Hillside
Keelung Girls’ Senior High School occupies an expansive hillside campus, where buildings are arranged along sloped terrain, resulting in highly complex circulation paths. The existing signage system was difficult to understand, causing visitors to lose their way frequently.
Starting from the users’ perspective, the design team identified key locations throughout the campus where signage should be installed. The original 2D campus map was then transformed into an intuitive 3D relative-position diagram that responds directly to the hillside topography. The new signage system incorporates the deep red color found in the school’s architectural palette, allowing the wayfinding elements to blend naturally into the campus environment. At the same time, a subtractive design strategy was used to remove unnecessary notices and visual clutter across the grounds, creating a more welcoming and aesthetically coherent campus for both students and visitors.
