Hsinchu City Bei-Men Primary School|CONCENTRIC CHILDLIKE INNOCENCE
Tongxin Hall at Beimen Elementary School is an 87-year-old building. Beyond issues such as dim lighting, an overly high and undersized stage, and cluttered mechanical and electrical systems, the space’s functional layout no longer meets the needs of current use.
The design team applied a visual motif inspired by the gesture of a child forming a small circle with their fingers to explore their surroundings, integrating this imagery into the architectural elements. A high-brightness color scheme was introduced to stimulate visual engagement and cultivate a lively, exploratory atmosphere. Guided by the concept of a “campus museum,” the hall was reimagined as a “Children’s Exploration Hub,” complete with a newly constructed performance stage and multifunctional display seating that accommodates various modes of use. Through this transformation, Beimen Elementary School is shaping a place where the historic “unity of hearts” resonates with the joyful curiosity of “children’s hearts.”
