Pixelating Space to Create a Multimedia Aesthetic
The New Media Arts Laboratory at Banqiao High School reinterprets digital aesthetics through a design concept rooted in experimentation and innovation. Pixel-grid imagery is transformed into spatial language using a cubic lighting system, paired with a color palette of “Laboratory White” and “Tech Silver Gray” to define the overall atmosphere. Modular desks, chairs, and display units allow teachers to shift seamlessly between teaching, exhibition, performance, and other instructional modes.
Transforming Leftover Space: A Classroom That Also Functions as a Gallery
To respond to the ceiling height variation caused by existing mechanical systems, a sliding partition is strategically installed at the transition point. The partition naturally defines the two major zones—teaching and exhibition—while also serving as a visual backdrop for presentations or a brainstorming wall for students during group discussions. The rear exhibition zone is equipped with a full-height pegboard wall and modular, reconfigurable long tables. With adjustable shelves and hanging components, the space becomes a dynamic platform for showcasing student work, offering a flexible environment for experimentation and creative display.
