Taipei Municipal Heping High School
The lack of a comprehensive signage system prevents visitors and new students from receiving clear spatial and directional guidance. The school entrance is adjacent to the administrative and academic buildings, yet the primary circulation route is winding and insufficiently guided by signage. To address this issue, teachers and students have created and posted their own signs throughout the buildings, resulting in inconsistencies in materials, dimensions, and colors. This not only affects the aesthetics of the campus but also cultivates a habit of casual and unregulated posting.
Design analysis
The design team assessed the school’s signage needs and drew inspiration from the mosaic tile decorations found throughout the campus environment. Simple geometric forms were used to construct graphic text, creating a systematic signage system. The colorful visual language symbolizes students’ youthful energy, breaking away from the cold and rigid impression of conventional signage. To address the ongoing need for campus announcements, the design team recommended establishing dedicated bulletin boards and mobile signage stands.
