Integrating an 80-Year Campus Signage System to Ensure Visitors Never Lose Their Way

Yuanlin Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School occupies more than 20 hectares of land. Since its establishment, the campus signage system has only been updated when damage became severe, resulting in a collection of signs produced in different eras and styles. The inconsistency often leads new students to the wrong classrooms and causes visiting guests to struggle when locating offices or meeting points.

Through multiple site visits and detailed analysis, the design team identified the pain points of the existing system. With close collaboration among the review committee, the school, and the design team, a signage system that balances aesthetic quality and practical guidance was developed. As the only agricultural vocational high school in Changhua County and a campus rich in natural ecology, the new color scheme adopts wood textures and neutral grays to harmonize with the surrounding environment. The signage strategy clearly divides the expansive campus into Zones A and B using color coding, allowing students, parents, visitors, and community members to navigate with clarity and reach their destinations with ease.
