“ Expanding the educational environment from schools to communities, integrating school education with the community, and allowing children to learn locally in a subtle way.”
Reactivating Idle Space to Create a Multi-Purpose Learning Venue
The project targets an outdoor idle area and transforms it into a flexible, multi-functional environment aligned with thematic curricula and community collaboration. After renovation, the space can extend indoor art classes outward, supporting experimental exhibitions, outdoor lectures, creative markets, and other activities to increase usability. The venue may also be shared with the local community, functioning as an artistic laboratory that bridges “traditional heritage” and “future creativity,” embodying the true spirit of aesthetic education.
School–Student Co-Creation: Building a Shared Transformative Experience for Chu Dong
This renovation introduces a co-creation model that invites students to participate through the school’s existing woodcraft curriculum. Students engaged in hands-on tasks such as dismantling old desks and chairs, sanding materials, and assisting with installation, allowing them to experience the bodily labor and creativity behind spatial transformation. This not only provides a learning experience different from traditional coursework but also ensures the renovation becomes a shared journey—one that connects the school and its students through a deeply meaningful and collective act of transformation.
